It is such a joy for iRadar to see the iRadar CTO, Associate Professor Ts. Ir. Dr. Chan Yee Kit, has been recognized as one of the recipients for his contribution to remote sensing technology by producing low-cost Ground-Based Synthetic Aperture Radar or known as GBSAR.

GBSAR is used to monitor high-risk landslide areas as it is designed to be able to detect sub-mm movement on natural and synthetic objects. High-resolution change detection is beneficial to disaster monitoring, risk assessment as well as for the establishment of an early warning framework for hazard management. It can be applied in various areas to monitor the surface deformation of earth environments (such as landslides, terrain subsidence, falling rocks, glaciers, avalanches, volcanoes, etc.) as well as man-made structures (such as bridges, buildings, towers, dams, roads, etc.).

Akademi Sains Malaysia (ASM) has recognized 22 recipients of Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) 2021 for their outstanding contributions and achievements in Science, Technology, Innovation and Economics (STIE). Across various disciplines, TRSM award recipients are changing the research landscape and contributing their expertise as advisors in STIE in Malaysia.

Last but not least, congratulations on the great achievement and best wishes for more adventure in the future!
